Fred Wang, the founder of Mars Finance and Consensus Lab, delivered a speech titled Blockchain is not ‘value Internet’ at the Blockchain Technology Innovation Summit in Macau on December 12.
The core points of speech are as follows:
1. At the start of every industrial boom, the first beneficiaries may not be able to think particularly clear.
2. P2P transmission technology, distributed storage, hash algorithm and consensus mechanism are all internet technologies, but I think if only to understand blockchain from a technical perspective and define it narrowly as a technology, there might be misconceptions.
3. If blockchain is narrowly understood as "value internet", then this industry is not far away. In my opinion, blockchain should not be packaged as "the next internet," I hope blockchain can become a new commercial civilization.
Fred Wang also talked about Mars Finance future plan in the speech:
First, we will continue to deepen the field of blockchain, and continue to move forward. Currently, we are preparing a blockchain game studio, which will cooperate with large public chain platforms and communities. I don't expect the launch time of the product being too late. We have many years of experience in game development, and we will incubate blockchain game business through Mars Finance.
Second, we have entered the field of quantitative trading of digital assets. We are trying to make quantitative trading an industrial ecosystem and optimize resource allocation in this ecosystem. I hope to provide asset management services for investors. Not long ago, we have just released Mars BitUniverse – a powerful digital asset portfolio manager.
Third, I have a strong intention to do education. As many have already known, we are working on Mars University, originally called Mars Training Camp. Mars University offers a series of courses on smart contract, distributed storage, P2P transmission technology, and general certificate economy. We hope to build a university without barriers, as all of our mentors and attendees come directly from the community.
Overall, Mars Finance started with information and investment in 2018 and plans to continue digital asset management services, while working on blockchain games and educational programs next year.
